Brittany Stonestreet is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Publishing and Writing at Boston’s Emerson College where she has studied copyediting and the essentials of book publishing, including publishing law.

Hello! I’m JJ Hall. Freelance editor and proofreader. I also serve as a beta reader and writing coach. Helping writers stay on task is my super power. HOW? By compiling lists of due dates, assignments, tasks, projects and timelines. I check grammar, syntax, punctuation, spelling, clarity, and consistency. Upon request, I can transform a series of jumbled words into a sentence, a paragraph, or an incredible end product.

My background is in English Literature. I have a BA in English from Kansas State University and a MA in English Literature from College of Charleston. I taught English at a local community college for six years, then spent the next ten years raising my three boys. After all three were in school, I started training to become an editor. I started with the course, The Keys to Effective Editing through the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, as well as reading almost every editing book I could get my hands on. I’ve continued training by receiving certificates for the Copyediting Fiction and Nonfiction Books practicum and Developmental Editing for Fiction through Editorial Arts Academy.

Mari Ann Stefanelli is the founder and executive director of The Writer’s High®, LLC, which provides writing, editing, and coaching services to authors and corporate clients. She specializes in developmental editing for creative nonfiction, especially memoir, as she loves helping authors find their voice. She also created The Writer’s High Retreat®, an annual weekend writing retreat dedicated to nurturing writers in an inspiring, bucolic setting.
