I’m a meticulous editor, creative writer, and analytical thinker with 15 years’ experience writing, copyediting, and proofreading in staff and contract positions. My employers and clients have included book publishers, evaluation consultants, academics, an architecture firm, a real estate agent, a youth theater company, and a refugee-led non-profit. I’ve written and edited proposals, press releases, evaluation materials, funder and annual reports, building specifications, website and blog content, newsletters (for email and mail), social media content, and sensitive correspondence.

My experience includes copyediting, substantive editing, and writing in engineering, the arts, and other areas. I have copyedited books for academic presses, articles for professional journals, and academic material such as dissertations, admissions essays, and letters of recommendation for ESL clients.

I am a soon-to-retire teacher looking to transition into a new field.  Books and reading have always been a big part of my life, so it seems natural to me to go into proofreading and editing. As a reader, I love children’s and young adult literature, science fiction and fantasy, contemporary fiction, historical fiction, biographies, non-fiction—just about anything but westerns. Never could get into those!
